When she was 9 years old, she started the art of photography with her analog camera and since that time, she continued with compact cameras for many years, also working with DSLR cameras since 2005. While she was silently continuing her career in art of photography, she was studying in university. She won the special jury prize and the ‘Private Eye’ when she attended to international contests in Europe. That was her title when she went back to her career as a professional. Still having her different style, Mey’s photographs are located in private collections with high appreciation.

Since 2010, she has been working with an auction company. In 2011, many of her photos took part in many exhibitions of Beyaz Auctions. In May 2011, she opened her solo exhibition, named “Traces of the City” by the concept of her travels, reflections and works of graffiti.

The most important features of Mey’s photographs are their uniqueness and sustaining the traces of the contemporary and classical photography at the same time.

Her works are usually mono or maximum of 5 editions.

Melissa Mey became one of the photography artists at the Contemporary Istanbul and Beyaz Auction’s. She also held many exhibitions and auctions with the aim of helping people. She also worked as a jury member in many international photography contests, also awarded many prizes.

Melissa Mey is still a member of UPI (United Photographers International) and FIAP (Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique).

She is continuing her works in Istanbul and Florence except her photography tours. Mey has published five books in the last three years which are “Küçük Prens Tenimde (2016), Küçük Prens (Translation of The Little Prince, 2016), Dil Öğreten Hikayeler (Turkish-English and Turkish-German and Turkish-Spanish version, 2019 and Italian 2022), and Salai (Turkish-English, 2019). Currently, the artist is giving lectures on the subjects of ‘Art History’ and ‘Great Composers and their Masterpieces’ in Maltepe University. At the same time, she is getting her proficiency in art of cinematography in the same university.

Marmara üniversitesi Resim ana sanatı ve Heykel yan sanatında 2000-2004 yıllarında lisans, 2007' de yüksek lisansını tamamladı.

9 yaşında analog kamerasıyla başladığı Fotoğraf sanatına uzun yıllar analog ve compact kameralarla devam edip, 2005 ten itibaren dslr kameralarla çalıştı. Üniversite eğitimi ve resim çalışmaları nedeniyle bir süre sessizce devam ettiği fotoğraf sanatına yurtdışında katıldığı uluslararası fotoğraf yarışmasında aldığı özel jüri ödülü ve “özel göz” ünvanı ile profesyonel anlamda geri döndü.

Mey’in fotoğrafları birçok özel koleksiyonlarda yer almakta ve farklı tarzıyla oldukça beğeni toplamaktadır.

2010’dan itibaren fotoğrafları Türkiye’nin en önemli çağdaş sanat müzayedesinde yer alan sanatçı, birçok karma sergide de yer aldı.

2011 Mayıs ayında “Şehir İzleri” adıyla sergi seyahatlerinden, şehirlerden birer iz niteliğinde yansıma ve grafiti ağırlıklı çalışmalardan oluşmuş kişisel sergisini açtı.

Mey'in fotoğraflarının en büyük özelliği, özgün yapısı ve klasik fotoğraf anlayışından uzaklaşmadan çağın izlerini taşımasıdır. Ayrıca sanatçı mono ve maksimum beş edisyon baskı ile fotoğraf sanatını diğer disiplinler gibi kılma çabasındadır. 

Yoğun fotoğraf seyahatleri dışında İstanbul ve Floransa'da  yaşamakta ve çalışmalarına burada devam etmektedir.

2016 yılında Küçük Prens Tenimde foto-proje kitabı, 2016 Küçük Prens (çeviri), 2019 Dil Öğreten Hikayeler (Türkçe, İngilizce, İspanyolca, Almanca) kitapları İnkılap kitabevi tarafından yayımlanmıştır. 2019 Salai adlı Türkçe-İngilizce aforizma kitabı Sola yayınlarından çıkmıştır.  Küçük Prens Gaziantep ağzı projesi Güccük Pirens 2021 , Dil Öğreten Hikayeler İtalyanca- Türkçe  2022 yeni dil olarak eklenmiştir.  

Sanatçı Maltepe Üniversitesinde “Sanat Tarihi" ve “Büyük Besteciler ve Başyapıtları" dersleri vermekte olup yine aynı üniversitede Sinema dalında sanatta yeterlilik ve İtalya'da Genel Sanat üzerine ikinci yüksek lisansını yapmaktadır.
